Rhythm of Remembrance- Samir Satam Book Review
Samir Satam’s brilliance shines in new and unexpected ways with this masterpiece.
Did you ever think petrichor has ways of getting ready for a bath the one out of which you never come out clean?
In this poetry book Samir Satam talks about rain, home, people used to write letters in older days, about pain on how it grows first into a fixed size room and then it overflows and takes the form of an entire City, about memories, about some smells that dance together of remembrance, unpacking dreams, and cozy homes.
He personifies homes as people with wounded wings. There is an underlying theme of love and loss, which makes it poetry with hope. The major theme of the poem which is hope can be relatable to any reader.
I read this book three times, once to understand and enjoy the poetry, second time in a more disciplined way highlighting the parts of the book which I love, reading the passages which stood out and noticed a repetition of certain phrases, to understand the theme of love and loss. And the third time to review.
Sharing a few snippets
I love the Connection between all the poems, on how it starts with remembering loved ones on rainy days and shifts to a feeling of belongingness to a place or how a poet is born after exploding supernovas. There are a few difficult terms used so it might not be appropriate for first-time readers. Loved the compilation of 75 poetry scribbled by the author on his emotional journey also, loved the illustrations and photographs, clicked by the author. I also loved the old-school cover of the book. Very subtle and thought-provoking.
Author Samir Satam is a poet, writer, photographer, and IT professional. He is actively involved in the literary movement that aims to bring poetry to a mainstream readership. Rhythm of Remembrance is his third book.
