Start reading more

Often my friends ask me how they would start reading, I get questions like how should I get started Reading so finally decided to answer this question here.

Out of all the goals I see that people make stop procrastinating and read more the top goals that people set for themselves and being an avid reader I can say that reading books opens your eyes and makes you think beyond the daily horizons.

Besides helping you to escape reality books also increases your attention span which is reducing at an alarming rate, worldwide.

If you are starting it late, pick a book/genre which you can easily relate to, like you might not want to read about dragons and werewolves if you are a fully grown adult.

Do not set unattainable goals. Start by reading just 5 pages in a day if you like you can go beyond it.

Once you start reading keep your phone aside. so that while reading you are able to concentrate and really fast without getting distracted.

Make sure that there is someone to motivate you to read the book. have a few reader friends, with whom you can discuss books. And share what you read.

If you want to cultivate reading as a habit there are a lot of ways you can actually do it. You have to understand that reading is a highly enjoyable process if you have an easy to understand the book.

Always carry a book wherever you go, you never know when you have an opportunity to read. For these purposes you can also rely on audiobooks, you can easily listen to books while standing at the line of a grocery store.

Initially reading two or three hours in a day sounds like a serious time commitment, but have you checked your screen time? Maybe you can reduce your screen time by an hour or so and dedicate it to reading books.

Do not pick an overhyped book if you do not like the genre.

If you do not read at all start with reading magazines and good blogs that will help you to move to your book next.

And lastly, make it a habit, make reading come naturally to you like scrolling on the phone comes naturally. Whenever you feel you’re getting bored you are naturally to pick up your phone but instead of that pick up the book.

Remember, you have to eliminate any friction that makes you think a book is too big of an investment.
